Self-shielded flux core
AWS E71T-GS
All-position rated

⚡ GASLESS · ALL-POSITION · DCEN · 70,000 PSI · 0.030" & 0.035" · WORKS WITH ALL ARCPEX MIG WELDERS.

ARCPEX E71T-GS Flux Core Wire delivers professional-quality welds without shielding gas — ideal for outdoor welding, windy conditions, and field repairs where gas cylinders are impractical. Available in 0.030" (0.8mm) and 0.035" (0.9mm), in 1-pack, 2-pack, and 3-pack options.

🔧 WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

🔬 NO GAS REQUIRED — WELD ANYWHERE

Self-shielded flux core generates its own shielding gas from the flux core during welding — no external gas cylinder needed. Weld outdoors, in windy conditions, on job sites, and in the field without worrying about gas coverage or cylinder logistics.

Eliminates gas cylinder rental, refill costs, and the hassle of transporting pressurized cylinders to remote job sites.

🎯 ALL-POSITION · 70,000 PSI — PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH

AWS E71T-GS classification: rated for all welding positions — flat, horizontal, vertical-up, and overhead. Minimum tensile strength of 70,000 PSI for structural-grade welds on carbon steel and mild steel.

Stable arc with minimal spatter and self-peeling slag for fast, clean post-weld cleanup.

⚙️ WORKS WITH ALL ARCPEX MIG WELDERS

Compatible with ARCPEX MIG200, MIG200 DP LCD, and all standard MIG welders with a 2LB spool hub. Available in 0.030" (0.8mm) for thin material and 0.035" (0.9mm) for general fabrication.

Use DCEN (electrode negative) polarity — reverse from solid MIG wire. Set wire stick-out to 1/2"–3/4" for best results.

💰 SAVE ON GAS — MULTI-PACK VALUE

Available in 1-pack ($17.99), 2-pack ($27.99), and 3-pack ($45.99) — stock up and save. No gas cylinder rental or refill costs means lower total cost per weld vs. solid wire + gas setups for outdoor and field applications.

Precision-wound spools with uniform wire diameter for consistent feed and arc stability.

💡 Flux Core vs Solid MIG Wire: Use E71T-GS flux core for outdoor welding, windy conditions, rusty or dirty metal, and field repairs where gas coverage is unreliable. Use solid MIG wire + gas for indoor shop welding on clean metal where lower spatter and cleaner welds are the priority. Many welders keep both on hand.

📊 RECOMMENDED SETTINGS GUIDE

Material Thickness Voltage Wire Feed Speed Wire Size
18–20 gauge (thin) 15–16V 200–250 IPM 0.030"
1/8" (3mm) 17–18V 300–350 IPM 0.030" or 0.035"

🔧 IDEAL APPLICATIONS

🚗 Automotive & Body Repair

0.030" E71T-GS on thin automotive sheet metal, floor pans, and body panels. Gasless operation means no gas cylinder in the garage. Works on slightly rusty or dirty metal where solid wire struggles.

🚜 Farm & Field Repair

Self-shielded flux core is the go-to wire for field repairs on farm equipment, trailers, and implements. No gas cylinder to transport. Works in wind and outdoor conditions where gas shielding would be blown away.

🏗️ Construction & Structural

All-position E71T-GS handles vertical-up and overhead welds on structural steel, rebar, and framing. 70,000 PSI tensile strength meets structural welding requirements for general construction applications.

🔧 General Fabrication & Repair

Versatile for any carbon steel fabrication, repair, and maintenance welding. Works with all ARCPEX MIG welders and most standard MIG machines. Precision-wound spool ensures consistent feed and arc stability.

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need shielding gas with E71T-GS flux core wire?
No — E71T-GS is self-shielded. The flux core generates its own shielding gas during welding. Do NOT use external shielding gas with E71T-GS — it will disrupt the flux shielding and cause porosity. If you want to use gas, you need E71T-11 or ER70S-6 solid wire instead.
What polarity do I use for flux core wire?
Use DCEN (DC Electrode Negative) — also called straight polarity. This is the opposite of solid MIG wire (which uses DCEP). On your MIG welder, swap the polarity by switching the connections on the wire feed and ground terminals inside the machine. Check your welder's manual for the polarity switching procedure.
0.030" vs 0.035" — which should I choose?
0.030" (0.8mm) is better for thinner material (18–20 gauge up to 3/16") and lower-amperage welders (110V machines). 0.035" (0.9mm) is better for thicker material (1/8" and above) and higher-amperage 220V welders. When in doubt, 0.030" is the more versatile choice for general use.
Can I use this wire with my ARCPEX MIG200 or MIG200 DP LCD?
Yes — ARCPEX E71T-GS flux core wire is fully compatible with the ARCPEX MIG200 and MIG200 DP LCD. Use the flux core wire feed rollers (included with the machine), set polarity to DCEN, and select the flux core mode if available. No gas connection needed.
Why is my flux core weld producing excessive spatter?
Excessive spatter is usually caused by: 1) Wrong polarity — ensure DCEN (electrode negative). 2) Wire stick-out too short — maintain 1/2"–3/4". 3) Voltage too high for the wire feed speed — reduce voltage or increase wire speed. 4) Dirty or rusty base metal — clean with wire brush before welding.
